I call my Christmas tree a Charlie Brown tree because it's pretty cheesy. Yes, it stands about 5 1/2 feet tall, but the branches are uneven (it's artificial and I can't space them very well), I forgot lights and there are very few ornaments on it. Still, the ornaments I do have all have a story, which is what I like. Pieces of my personal history are stored in those ornaments, from the little yellow ball I stole from the employee pub Christmas tree when I worked at the Grand Canyon (yes, stole. What do you want? I was young and stupid.) to the seashell ornaments from one of my first students. Every place I go on vacation I try to buy a new ornament. If I don't go anywhere spectacular, I buy some special ornament that reflects who I am that particular year. This year I'm adding the Irish drum with the shamrocks that I bought in Ireland.
What's on your tree?

We haven't gotten ours yet. My daughter and I long for a tree that has a theme... you know, matching ornaments and colors, but my dh is sentamental and wants every ornament we have ever received on the tree. But we did win out this year and are getting a new tree top!

I'm slowly building a collection of Christopher Radko ornaments. My intention was to give them to my daughter when she gets her own place. They are beautiful, but expensive, which is why I only buy 1 per year (2 if I can get them on sale). The rest are a mixture of plain inexpensive balls in lime and lavender and some old favorites from my childhood.
Teri, compromise is key, isn't it? What theme would you and your daughter choose?
Cat, I only buy one a year and mine are usually pretty cheap. Nothing wrong with one a year! That's a great idea to give them to your daughter. I have some of my grandparents ornaments.
The majority of my decorations are, of course, cats. The Hallmark collector series. Then there are the "It's a Wonderful Life" ornaments. 2 Thomas Kinkaid (he's my favorite artist), and a few homemade ones. Oh, and a couple of Irish ones.
I like cheesy!!;)
