HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!
I'm sitting here sipping a Smithwick's beer and remembering the day I tried it first. It was my first day in Dublin last June. How I wish I was back there now! But I'm celebrating as much as I can for someone who had to work today. I wore green of course and bought one of those headbands with the antennae that look like Leprechauns. I have my shamrock earrings in. I had a St. Patrick's Day party with my homeroom. I brought them cookies and a drink, played Irish music and even introduced them to Gaelic. (At one point I bought one of those tapes to teach myself Gaelic.) I talked about my trip last year and wished I'd brought my vacation pictures to the kids. Now I'm home having my drink and still listening to Irish music. I thought about going out, but I only got 3 hours of sleep last night and my body's tired.
I'll leave you tonight with some of the pictures I posted to my blog last year when I got back from Ireland. Enjoy!

I love the pics, Lexi! Happy St. Patrick's Day!
C-
Thanks, Corrina!
I had my Irish music playing at work today, too. I wore my favorite spring green button-down, too. :)
I don't think I had as much fun as you did, though. LOL I'll bet your students love you!
Thanks for sharing the pics! They're awesome!
Ooh great pics, Lexi!! Ireland is on my wish list to visit! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
Ah, Lexi, makes me homesick for the United Kingdom. Its been two years since I was there, which seems like a lifetime ago. sigh*
Thanks for posting! I might be brave and one day post a photo of me when I was about 8, my first time in Scotland!!! Then again, maybe not!! ha ha
Andrea
Dublin is one of my favorite places, Lexi. Nice pix, good memories for you. Look at them often. They'll draw you back over for another Smithwick's some day!
Nita, I told the kids last month about Glen Coe and the massacre of the MacDonalds. When I started talking today, one of the girls asked if I had another story for them like that one. That just tickled me!
Oh, Nicole, it's odd. I loved Ireland when I was there, but it took today (St. Patrick's Day) and me talking about my trip to make me really miss it. DEFINITELY get there if you have the chance. The people are so wonderful!
Andrea, I seem to be averaging every 5 years for vacation to the UK. (I didn't count the visit I had when we buried my grandmother in England.) Hopefully I'll break myself of that cycle next summer with a return trip to visit all the relatives! I think you should show us the 8-year-old Andrea!
I hope so, Pat. I liked it at first, but the more I think and talk about it, the more I want to go back. And I'm sure that the more often I visit, the more I'll love it, and the more I'll want to go back!
Beautiful pics, Lexi!!
Thanks, Elisabeth! even recycled pictures make me wish to be back there!
Love the pictures! You just want to crawl into them!
DH is of Irish-descent. Got the nice "ruddy glow" -- looks terrible in green, but we had fun with the day, anyway!
Love the pics -- soothing, calm, gorgeous, and ancient. Nice!!
Yes, Kelly, I want to be walking along the river or wandering over the stone bridge. It keeps me calm.
Kerry, I'm glad you had a good day yesterday. I just wish we could celebrate St. Patrick's Day for a while longer!
